TANSEN, PALPA
Preparations for the Lumbini International Film Festival have been completed, with the three-day event scheduled to take place in Tansen from October 8 to 10.
The festival will feature 26 documentaries from Nepal and other countries, along with a selection of international feature and short films, according to Pandav KC, executive director of Katha Mandala.
The event aims to promote the language, art, culture and natural and cultural heritage of Lumbini Province at both national and international levels through cinema.
The festival will be held at Santosh Cinema Hall in Tansen with the promotion of Tansen Municipality and the Nepal Tourism Board.
Organisers expect the event to contribute to the development of filmmaking in the province by highlighting its indigenous culture, historical heritage, local cuisine, traditional attire and tourism destinations.
Following the screenings, audiences will have opportunities to interact directly with the directors, producers and actors involved in the films.
Sagar Man Maharjan, ward chairperson of Tansen-6, said the interactions would help audiences better understand the filmmaking process, themes and creative elements of cinema while building direct connections between filmmakers and viewers.
The festival is being organised with the cooperation of the provincial government, local governments, private-sector organisations, tourism entrepreneurs and other institutions, with the aim of establishing it as a shared cultural event for Lumbini Province.
