From EVs to Flying Cars? Binod Chaudhary Sees Potential for eVTOLs in Nepal

Kathmandu, Nepal’s electric mobility story could eventually move beyond roads and into the skies, according to Chairman of CG Corp Global, Binod Chaudhary, who has highlighted the potential of electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft for Nepal.

Chaudhary  shared his views after meeting Yon Wui Ng, Founder and CEO of TCab Tech, in Shanghai and seeing the company’s eVTOL technology firsthand. According to Chaudhary, eVTOL aircraft could potentially provide an alternative to conventional helicopters, offering quieter and more comfortable travel at a potentially lower cost. He particularly pointed to countries and regions with challenging terrain as potential markets.

He said TCab is preparing for passenger operations in markets including Malaysia and the UAE, and suggested that Nepal could also explore the technology given its mountains, remote settlements and difficult geography.

Chaudhary compared the idea with Nepal’s adoption of electric vehicles, saying the country could consider taking the next step in electric mobility—from roads to air.

However, eVTOL adoption in Nepal remains a future possibility rather than an immediate development. Its introduction would require aviation safety certification, regulatory approval, infrastructure, suitable airspace arrangements and commercial viability.

If the technology proves viable for Nepal, potential applications could include connectivity to remote areas, tourism and short-distance passenger transport. For now, the idea highlights how rapidly electric mobility is expanding beyond conventional vehicles.
