Kathmandu, On the occasion of Traffic Safety Week, the Nepal Automobile Importers and Manufacturers Association (NAIMA) and the Traffic Police have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen traffic management and promote road safety across the country.
The MoU was signed by NAIMA Board Committee Member Saurabh Jyoti on behalf of NAIMA and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dan Bahadur Karki on behalf of Nepal Police.
As per the agreement, NAIMA will support the training of more than 1,600 traffic police personnel every year for the next five years. The initiative aims to enhance the professional skills of traffic police, improve traffic regulation and enforcement, and contribute to safer and more efficient road use nationwide.
The training programs will focus on modern traffic management techniques, road safety awareness, evolving vehicle technologies, and best practices in enforcement. This collaborative effort is expected to help reduce road accidents, ease traffic congestion, and ensure safer mobility for all road users.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, NAIMA representatives highlighted the association’s commitment to road safety, stating that automobile importers and manufacturers have a vital role to play in creating a safer road environment.
Nepal Police officials, including IGP Dan Bahadur Karki, emphasized the importance of continuous capacity building for traffic police in view of increasing vehicle numbers and complex traffic challenges. They expressed confidence that the partnership would significantly strengthen traffic policing and public safety.
The MoU signed during Traffic Safety Week reflects a shared vision of NAIMA and Nepal Police to build safer roads, improved traffic management systems, and a stronger culture of road safety in Nepal.
