KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 23

Heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in the hilly areas of Koshi Province and the hilly and Terai regions of Bagmati Province on Wednesday, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

The department forecast generally cloudy conditions across the country, with moderate rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning likely in parts of the Himalayan and hilly regions. Moderate rainfall is also expected in Madhesh Province and several areas of the Terai.

Weather conditions are being influenced by monsoon winds, with a partial influence of westerly winds. According to meteorologists, a depression over the west-central Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into a deep depression and move west-northwestward in the coming days.

In Kathmandu, moderate rainfall with thundershowers is likely during the day, with temperatures expected to range between 27°C and 29°C. Similar conditions are expected at night, when temperatures may fall to 18°C–20°C.

The department has advised people in areas likely to receive heavy rainfall to remain cautious, particularly in locations vulnerable to localised flooding, landslides and disruptions to transportation.
