Citizens Life Partners with KI-COCH to Build New Children’s Hospital in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, Citizens Life Insurance Company Limited (CLICL) and the Kathmandu Institute of Child Health (KI-COCH) have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on the construction of a new children’s hospital in Kathmandu.

Under the agreement, Citizens Life will provide NPR 5 lakh in financial support for the KI-COCH–Kathmandu Children’s Hospital project. The signing ceremony took place on Wednesday, with Citizens Life Chairman Pradeep Jung Pandey and KI-COCH Founder Chairman Prof. Dr. Bhagwan Koirala formally endorsing the agreement. Following the signing, the pledged contribution will be transferred to KI-COCH.

KI-COCH, a non-profit organization, is building a 200-bed pediatric hospital in Budhanilkantha Municipality–7, Kathmandu, with the mission of making child healthcare in Nepal accessible, affordable, and high-quality. The organization also plans to expand the hospital and establish satellite centers in other provinces of Nepal.

According to the agreement, upon the successful completion of the project, the hospital premises will feature Citizens Life’s name in line with KI-COCH’s donor recognition policy. The insurance company will also have the option to monitor the construction site through its representatives. KI-COCH will provide annual progress updates to Citizens Life Insurance .

The partnership allows for amendments to the agreement by mutual consent and envisions continued collaboration based on shared resources and priorities. Both organizations reaffirmed their commitment to transparency, accountability, and the development of child healthcare services in Nepal.

Witnessing the signing were Citizens Life Chief Executive Officer Poskaraj Paudel and Chief Operating Officer Dipendra Khadka.
