Kathmandu, Tunje Kami, a member of the National Dalit Commission, has resigned from his position. His resignation has been submitted to President Ramchandra Paudel, effective from today (Jestha 1).
According to Ritesh Kumar Shakya, spokesperson for the Office of the President, Kami tendered his resignation with immediate effect. The President’s Office confirmed that the resignation came into force from Thursday.
The resignation comes as the current government has requested office-bearers appointed to various constitutional commissions and government bodies to facilitate a smooth transition by stepping down.
Kami’s resignation is believed to have been made in response to the government’s request. In recent days, several officials serving in constitutional bodies and public institutions have stepped down following similar calls from the government.
