Kathmandu, The Nepali Congress has announced the expulsion of General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwaprakash Sharma from the party. A meeting of the party’s Central Working Committee held on Wednesday decided to take disciplinary action against them, barring them from even ordinary membership for five years. With this move, the party has formally split.

The party has also expelled Co-General Secretary Farma Mansur and central committee member Pradip Paudel, among others. The decision was taken on the grounds that they acted against the party’s interests.

Meanwhile, the special general convention being held at Bhrikutimandap is preparing to elect Gagan Thapa as party president, while Bishwaprakash Sharma and Pradip Paudel are set to be elected as general secretaries.
